A light sensing system captures the image and sends the data to a lineal array of solenoids that traces lines over the layer of silica sand. The piece comprises a 3,000 pounds per inch motor, a water container, two water tanks, two concave lenses, an ink deposit, two mirrors, an ink dispenser system, 30 solenoids, 30 photocells, three microcontrollers, custom circuitry and a slab of walnut wood. The piece is 78 inches long, 98 inches wide and 90 inches high.
