Maria grew up in Madrid, Spain, and earned a degree in Fine Arts from Complutense University. She lived in London to see more of the world. After visiting friends in New York, she knew it was where she had to be. So Maria and her husband, Fede, a multi-media artist, moved to New York in 2000. Since then, they have made the city their home. Their family has expanded to two children, Lucas and Ruby, and their beloved pug, Blue. They could not imagine raising them anywhere else.
Maria has a master’s degree in fashion and video photography from the School of Visual Arts in New York. Her photographs have been shown in exhibitions in galleries such as Red Hook Labs in Brooklyn and Fast Retailing Gallery. Her fashion photographs have been featured in Neo 2, a Spanish magazine.
While Maria started in fashion photography, she has gravitated more toward real-life photography because she loves working with people and hearing about their stories and their dreams.
Maria views her photography as an extension of life. It should not be staged, but a natural expression of the inner strength and beauty that she sees within every person. During the course of her career, she has developed a personal aesthetic that values simplicity, authentic moments, and gorgeous light. Her photographs create memories that are intended to last a lifetime.
